Reflexology is a natural healing science with roots in ancient civilisations such as Egypt, China, Japan and India. It is a non-intrusive, complementary therapy based on the principle that all the organs and systems of the body are reflected in the feet (and hands). It is believed that by locating these reflex points and exerting specific pressure techniques, energy pathways are opened, healing is activated and the body is encouraged to restore balance.
Treatment is carried out on a couch or chair, and only socks/tights need to be removed. Although Reflexology is not a ‘pamper’ treatment, the session includes soothing massage movements and can be incredibly relaxing. Perhaps surprisingly, it generally doesn't tickle!
Potential benefits of Reflexology:
- Reduces stress
- Promotes relaxation
- Revitalises and increases energy levels
- Releases endorphins which can help with pain relief
- Boosts immune system
- Encourages all the systems of the body to work in harmony, leading to a state of health & well-being.
People suffering from a diverse range of conditions such as headaches, migraine, sinusitis, backache, sciatica, PMS, infertility, digestive disorders, insomnia and various stress-related disorders, have all reported benefits from Reflexology.
