Reiki can be thought of as a healing connection to the Universal life force which flows within and around us, and every living thing. This life force energy is referred to as 'Ki' in Japan, 'Chi' in China, and 'Prana' in India. It is NOT a religion, and everyone can access this energy and learn to use it for healing of self and others.
Healing is not just about removal of symptoms, as many people are now led to believe by conventional medicine, nor does it involve diagnosis, but is perhaps better viewed as a process of gently guiding a person toward empowerment, activating natural healing within the self. Just as our bodies know how to absorb nutrients from food, we also have a natural ability to utilise the life force energy for healing and balancing.
This natural process can be restorative and transformative, enabling a person to release negative patterns of thinking and behaviour, allowing an altered perspective and the ability to embrace positive change. This may then lead to better lifestyle choices, relating to work or relationships, improved health, greater vitality and general wellbeing.
Reiki tuition not only involves the passing on of knowledge, but also incorporates a series of attunements or initiations, each one raising the rate at which a person is able to vibrate, opening and aligning their energy centres. I liken this process to opening a doorway to self-discovery and mastery at the first attunement, switching on a light that gets brighter and a connection that gets stronger with each subsequent attunement.
Students are encouraged to practise regular self-healing, ideally daily, as this strengthens the flow of energy, and as a natural consequence, it is usual to experience a greater sense of calm, clarity of thought, the ability and energy to cope more confidently with daily challenges, along with a heightened sense of wellbeing.
If you are feeling drawn to study Reiki, and would like to learn more, I will be holding Reiki workshops, with attunements to levels 1, 2 and 3/Master throughout the year, These are generally arranged to suit, according to demand, either 1:1 or small group (2-4 people), allowing for plenty of focused attention and discussion. The day is pretty intensive, as lots of information is covered, but includes plenty of practical and will hopefully be fun!

Believe nothing merely
because you have been told it,
do not believe
what your teacher tells you
merely out of respect for the teacher,
after due examination and analysis
you find to be kind
conducive to the good,
the welfare of all beings –
that doctrine believe and cling to
And take as your guide.
